CM Highlights Rising Demand for Higher Education in Tripura

Agartala Nov 14: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha unveiled the new infrastructure at the Techno India Knowledge Campus in Agartala today. This marked a major moment Techno India University, Tripura (TIUT).

According to TIUT officials, the event signaled a strong step forward for higher education in the state. TIUT is a flagship project of the Techno India Group. It was set up under Tripura Act No. 4 of 2023. The university celebrated a milestone with the inauguration and foundation stone laying of new facilities.

A cultural evening and campus illumination followed the inaugural session at the Maheshkhola campus.

The day-long programme had two parts.
One highlighted institutional growth.
The other celebrated culture, community, and student involvement.

The formal ceremony began at 11:30 a.m.
Dignitaries were welcomed on arrival.
Chief Minister Manik Saha attended as the Chief Guest. Kishor Barman, Minister of Higher Education, Panchayat & GA (Political), was the Guest of Honour.

In his inaugural speech, Dr. Manik Saha describe the event as a boost to the education sector of Tripura.

He said it was an honour to attend the inauguration and stone-laying ceremony. He noted that the event marked more than an institutional achievement.

It represented a major step for education in Tripura. The Chief Minister said the rising demand for higher education in the state is clear from such developments. He expressed satisfaction at seeing this progress.

Dr Saha pointed out that the Techno India Knowledge Campus now hosts nearly 2,500 students from different states and backgrounds. He also appreciated that institutions in Tripura, including TIUT, are adopting the vision of NEP 2020.

The event reflected the vision of Prof. Satyam Roychowdhury, Chancellor of TIUT and Founder & MD of Techno India Group.

It showcased a commitment to expanding academic spaces and improving student facilities. It also aimed to build a future-ready education ecosystem in Tripura.

The morning session included the opening of the TIUT Academic Block–D and the TIUT Tagore Lounge. A Blood Donation Camp was also launched. Saplings were planted to promote sustainability on campus.

Students displayed their projects. Traditional food stalls were opened. TIUT released publications such as Mandala, TIUT Times, and OBE & Skillsets: Theory to Practice.
Foundation stones were laid for the Girls’ Hostel, Boys’ Hostel, Auditorium, VC’s Bungalow, and Staff Residential Block.
The Open Gym and Open Theatre were inaugurated online.

MoUs were exchanged with several institutions and organizations.

In his welcome address, Prof. Satyam Roychowdhury said Tripura is special for Techno India.

He recalled that the journey began in 1988 with the state’s first computer training centre. He said this has grown into a legacy that nurtures young minds. Roychowdhury thanked the Government of Tripura for its support.

Prof. Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group, and other dignitaries also addressed the gathering.

The celebrations resumed at 3:00 p.m. with the Cultural Evening and Campus Illumination.

The event began with the inauguration of the 33 kV Dual-Feeding Indoor Substation.
This new facility will strengthen the campus’s power system and support future growth.

Ratan Lal Nath, Minister of Power; Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare; Law & Parliamentary Affairs; and Election, attended as Chief Guest.

Prof. (Dr.) Arunoday Saha, former Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, and Pranab Sarkar, President of Agartala Press Club, were present as Special Guests.
