The implementation of the 4G saturation project in Tripura will completed by March, 2024, Information and Technology Minister of Tripura Pranajit Singha Roy said quoting the BSNL. He added, for this purpose, the implementing agency, BSNL, has been given rights to use Govt/forest department land for free for mobile towers.

The Minister said, the State government Tripura is working sincerely to resolve the internet connectivity problem in all the remote areas of the state where there is a problem with internet connectivity.

He pointed out, as the State Government is implementing digitalization initiatives in all its offices, stable Internet connectivity across the State is necessary.

The Minister, in his written reply to a question from opposition leader Animesh Debbarma in the State Assembly on Friday, said that a 4G saturation project has been started with the help of funds from the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) of the Government of India to provide internet service in all remote areas of the state. It has been decided that BSNL will implement the project in the state and so far BSNL has identified 125 sites for new 4G mobile towers and 8 locations for upgrading the previous towers to 4G.

The IT minister said that the state government has given BSNL the rights to use 2,000 square feet of government/forest department land free of cost to implement the project. He also said that BSNL authorities have informed that the work of building towers under the 4G saturation project will be completed by March, 2024.

The survey process is going on continuously to identify the villages where mobile and internet service has not reached. Telecom and internet service will be provided to those villages through various state and central schemes.
