Addressing a programme in Agartala Town Hall on Sunday (November 6), Mollah alleged anti-farmers policies of the Modi Government are forcing the farmers to take dire steps.

In his speech, Mollah narrated the history Farmers’ movement in the country since the pre-Independence era. He blamed successive governments at the centre in post-Independence period for not going for land reforms in true spirit. He also talked about the agitation and struggle against the Farm Bills which later was repealed.

Continuing his criticism against the government, Mollah alleged farmers are not getting fair prices for their crops – with the government liberal attitude towards the capitalist, farmers would be further in trouble.

He said, “Today the farmers of this country are being deprived from their land and farming due to the anti-farmer policy as the Modi government is on a spree to hand over the farmers’ land with the capitalists in the name of development of agriculture sector. We have seen that this capitalist government has avoided the farmers on their policy, which is completely based on the peripheries of the agriculture sector including production, profit, market value and others, whereas the farmers which are to make production, are not kept in the policy.”

“Now a days loans are being provided to the agro-industry from the farmers’ loan, whereas the genuine farmers are being deprived from their loans,” he said, adding that tt is very unfortunate that since independence no government has introduced policy in favour of the farmers. He however said that the All India Kissan Sabha has been fighting for the farmers’ right.
