In what seems to be another great news for the bamboo industry of Tripura, the state’s bamboo is going to be used for decoration of the new Parliament house being constructed at the national capital.

The bamboo products of Tripura will soon be seen used in flooring and panelling of the new Parliament house, East Tripura parliamentarian Rebati Tripura tweeted.

The MP who had met Union Minister for Road Transport and MSME Nitin Gadkari in Delhi with a range of demands pertaining to the National Highway realignment and to seek his intervention to expedite the process, took to twitter and announced the development.

His tweet written in Hindi literally translates to “it is a matter of pride for the state that Tripura made bamboo products would be used for flooring and panelling of the new Parliament house to give it an attractive finish”.

Rebati during his meeting also felicitated the Minister with Hrisha and a bamboo made pen which he used to process the letters of the MP, his tweets later added. According to another tweet, the Minister has advised the MP to execute the “Zero Defect Zero Effect” motto in the bamboo sector as per the clarion call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the meeting, Rebati handed over two letters to the Minister seeking his intervention to expedite the slow paced work of the national highway. He attracted the attention of the minister regarding the precarious state of the Bipin Setu located at Ambassa.

“Bipin Setu is located in the Dhalai district, sub division Ambassa, in Tripura which is in a shaky state and the bridge repair is being carried out by NHIDCL since 2018 but seeing the situation there is requirement of building new bridge which is the only permanent solution for the above issue for the welfare of the people of Tripura”, Rebati wrote in his letter.

He had also referred to two of his earlier written letters in which he sought the minister’s intervention for expediting the construction works of NHAI road project Dhramanagr to Agartala and Ambassa to Amarpur which was declared recently but not yet started.

He had also forwarded a demand from BJP MLA Sambhu Lal Chakma that sought construction of roads as per the old alignment for the benefit of people living in the stretches like Manu, Chailengta, Lalcherra, Kanchanpur, Chandipur etc.
