Tripura poised to attain an enviable milestone in ensuring a holistic development and welfare of the State. The tiny State, Tripura, is set to become the first State of the country to sign a Strategic Partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to realize overall socio-economic and infrastructure development.
According to official sources, the Union Ministry of Finance has recently given a green signal for such a strategic partnership.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is presently working in the Urban Development, Power, Tourism and Industrial sectors of the state. It has given substantial financial assistance in Agartala Smart City project, Power Generation and Distribution sectors of the state.
Besides, the Asian Development Bank is helping the Government of Tripura to develop seven district headquarters other than Agartala. In fact, Tripura was also the first North Eastern State to avail Project Readiness Finance (PRF) facility of ADB to prepare project proposals for major investments.
Under the proposed Strategic Partnership initiative, a team of ADB will visit the state in September next and will hold high-level meetings with the senior officers. They will prepare short term, medium term and long term investment proposals within a period of one year.
Comprehensive report on overall socio-economic and infrastructure development shall be submitted to the State Government with a shelf of projects in every sector. This will help in achieving transformational development to fulfil aspirations of the people of Tripura.
The Tripura Government is already working to harness the capacity of the primary sectors along with thrust in other entrepreneurial ventures. Apart from emerging as a model State as envisaged by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, the Government is also stressing on achieving self-reliance. Once the strategic partnership with the ADB materializes, the pace of economic activities will pace up resulting socio-economic development of the people.
