After the I-PAC issue and subsequent arrivals of Bengal based TMC leaders in Tripura, youth and women wings of State BJP unit hit streets to observe ‘Dhikkar Diwas’ across the State on Friday in numbers raising voice against on multiple issues including alleged conspiracies hatched by TMC.

Apart from protesting against the TMC, observance of Dhikkar Diwas bore significance on, at least, two counts – presence of large number of women folk and first public meeting in Agartala by Kishore Barman who was recently inducted in BJP as one of the general secretaries after his successful stint in North Bengal.

With TMC making desperate attempts to extend it footprint in Tripura, Mahila Morcha activists will play a crucial role in puncturing the idea that women of the State, like in West Bengal, will overwhelmingly support Mamata Banerjee.

“In Tripura situation is different and women of the State support someone just because she is a woman. The support base of Mahila Morcha became stronger in Tripura over the years and Mahila Morcha activists are working for welfare of the grass root women of the State. Large participation of ‘Mahila’ is the testimony of our growing support base. TMC leaders of Bengal must not presence of women on Dhikkar Diwas in Tripura today”, said a Banamalipur Mandal Mahila Morcha leader.

Experts opined, Mahila Morcha will have a crucial role in preventing TMC to make inroads among womenfolk – and unless, womenfolk support them, it will be difficult for TMC to build up a viable organization in Tripura.

The rally in Agartala ended with a public meeting in which Kishore Barman along with other leaders spoke on issues ranging from slamming TMC to highlighting the achievements of BJP government.

Addressing a public meeting on Dhikkar Diwas, Barman heavily came down on TMC and alleged that apart from an attempt to create unrest, a conspiracy was also hatched to murder the Chief Minister recently.

Barman referred to his stay in West Bengal for a long time on party’s assignment and said he knows the tactics of Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress.

He said the people of Tripura would give a befitting reply as the TMC leaders from West Bengal insulted them in different ways.

“The people of Tripura believe in the principle of Athithi Devo Bhavo. But, if an Athithi (guest) comes to our state and insults our people then we also know how to deal with it,” Barman said in a message to the TMC.

Badharghat MLA Mimi Majumder and MLA Sushanta Chowdhury among other leaders were present in the central programme.
