Tripura Police have filed case against Trinamool Congress All India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and five others on Tuesday.
Sources said, Police filed the case against Abhishek Banerjee, West Bengal education Minister Bratya Basu, TMC leaders – Dola Sen, Kunal Ghosh, Subal Bhowmik and Prakash Das for preventing Police from discharging their duties on August 8 last.
Abhishek Banerjee and other TMC leaders rushed to Khowai Police station after Police arrested 14 TMC leaders, mostly from Bengal, on August 8 last. On the same day, Banerjee and other leaders flew down to Agartala and reached Khowai Police station to know reasons behind the arrest.
During their stay in the PS on August 8, the TMC leaders including Abhishek Banerjee were seen got involved in intense argument with the Police. Amidst agitation and counter agitation by BJP and TMC supporters, the arguments between the Police and TMC leaders continued until a local Court granted bail to the arrested 14 TMC leaders.
