Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched a scathing attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) while addressing a party programme at Barjala in Agartala on Sunday. Among others, local BJP MLA Dr Dilip Das was also present in the programme.
In the programme, 956 voters formally joined BJP – this was another big boost for the BJP after more than 1300 voters joined BJP at Belonia under South Tripura recently. Participation of women and youths in the programme was noticeable.

Addressing the large gathering, Deb lashed out at Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) without naming it.
He said it is being observed that a party from West Bengal has come to our State. The leaders of that party are involved in cattle smuggling in West Bengal. Here also, they are inducting those people who are associated with such anti-social activities. I have the evidence based on which I will arrest them.
Talking about the Opposition CPM, Deb advised the BJP functionaries to visit the house of every Left party supporter and highlight the various developmental activities of the State Government. “Explain to them what the Government of 25 years had done and what we have been doing during the last three and half years”, he said.
Visibly buoyed at the presence of cheering crowd in the programme, Biplab Kumar Deb recalled past events and said, “I took charge of Tripura and arrived here in 2015 and jumped into campaign at Barjala by-election in 2017. During that time, I went to every household. Everyone in Barjala knows me and I know them too”.
The Chief Minister welcomed the new entrants and commented, “Inspired by the pro-development activities of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 956 voters joined BJP quitting CPM and other parties. I handed over saffron flags to the new entrants”.
Considering recent political activities of the saffron party, it appears that BJP has launched its campaign for upcoming Assembly polls under the leadership of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a big way, Political analysts opined.
