Leaving behind the club culture of yesteryears, clubs are now playing a significant role in welfare activities, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said after inaugurating a blood donation campaign organised by Alok Sangha Club at Ramnagar road no. 6 on Sunday (August 15).

The Chief Minister said, the government is paying utmost importance to the overall development of the state in all sectors including income generation. Recently it was possible to improve the quality of health services through development in the government health sector.

The government is working with the goal to cater health services to everyone through the decentralisation of health services. The infrastructure of district and sub-divisional hospitals is being upgraded. High-capacity oxygen plants are being set up in the state which will play a supportive role in the quality development of state health services.

Deb said, with the development in services of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer hospital, complex surgeries are now possible in the state. 156 MBBS doctors were recruited through TPSC in just 39 days. The government is working with the goal of catering facilities of various central and state public welfare schemes to everyone irrespective of their political inclination.

There was a time when subscriptions were collected from the state in the name of different movements and programmes. But present government for the overall development of the people of the state is bringing in central assistance for the state through various development schemes which shows the difference in vision.

Biplab Kumar Deb in the programme also said, none had to go hungry amidst the Covid pandemic all because of Prime Minister’s proper management. He said, a negative mentality was set among the people regarding states club culture, land lease commission, collecting whopping amount as Durga puja subscriptions.

But at present, many clubs have come out of such culture and are playing a significant role involving in social work activities.

He also said, recently as per the commitment, Prime Minister has turned Tripura into a HIRA model. Advanced roads, Rajdhani Express, international airport and improved internet services are escalating the state’s development.

The Chief Minister urged the clubs to actively take part in the development of social lives through social works and catering to everyone in the society with benefits of central and state governmental programmes. Prominent social worker Niti Deb in the programme said, donating blood is one of the ways to pay tribute to those who brought us freedom in exchange for their own blood.

He urged everyone to teach the next generations about the lives and history of our freedom fighters. Others present in the program were MLA Surajit Dutta, TRTC Chairman Dipak Majumder and Tripura Haj Committee Chairman Mohammed Jasim Uddin.
