The Tripura Government has taken steps to transform the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) into a ‘Smart Battalion’. Besides, a plan is on the pipeline to change uniform of the TSR jawans, said State Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. He said this while attending Sainik Sammelan at the headquarters of the 11th-Bn TSR at Pathaliaghat in Sepahijala District on Sunday.
Taking part in the Sainik Sammelan, Deb also inaugurated a a voluntary blood donation camp organized by the 11th-Bn TSR jawans. He also planted saplings there.
The Chief Minister said various matters related to the interest of the TSR jawans including setting up of CBSE schools for their children were under consideration.
Addressing the Sainik Sammelan, Deb appreciated the role of TSR in helping people during Corona crisis.
In another point, Dev said, some TSR personnel are enriched with special talents. He stressed on identifying them and honouring them. He said, five personnel from this battalion participated in national-level swimming competition.
“If necessary break free from traditional methods to harness confidence of the TSR personnel and encourage them to get involved in noble deeds”, Deb said and suggested to highlight the positive aspects and activities of the TSR personnel through social media.
The Chief Minister also stated that initially some TSR personnel were unwilling to go for posting outside the state. But, now, many of them were willing for the same.
He said around 91 percent of the total eligible population (18+ age groups) was already vaccinated with the first shot. Besides, 100 percent vaccination was already done in 11 urban local bodies and 244 villages.
While visiting the 11th-Bn TSR headquarters, Deb was accompanied by Tripura Police Chief V.S. Yadav, District Magistrate, Sepahijala- Viswashree B, Inspector General of TSR- G.S. Rao, battalion commandant and other officers.
