In protest against attacks on the party offices across the State yesterday, CPM brought out a rally in the city on Thursday. CPM leaders Pabitra Kar, Ratan Das, Manik Dey and others led the rally.

Speaking to the media, Pabitra Kar said, “Nothing can stop the Lal Jahnda (Red flag). Red flags will march forward resisting the attempts to stop it”.

He came down heavily on BJP leaders over yesterday’s vandalism in a media house, Pratibadi Kalam and CPM party offices at different parts of the State.

Notably, political situation turned volatile across the State after Opposition leader Manik Sarkar’s programme at Kanthalia under Dhanpur constituency on Monday last.  Several BJP supporters including elderly people were injured on Monday allegedly by CPM workers.

Narrating the yesterday’s incidences, Kar alleged, “Miscreants of BJP, the leaders are themselves miscreants, launched attacks without any provocation on Pratibadi Kalam. In that attack, three staffs of the media house were injured. Moreover, the editor of the newspaper would have been injured, if his staff could not shift him to safer place. His car was torched and vandalized”.

Kar also alleged, “At least 50 party offices across the State including the District Party office and State Office in Agartala were vandalized”.

It may be noted, after the attack on the media house, Union MoS for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik along with ICA Minister Sushanta Choudhury went to the Office of Pratibadi Kalam. They held talks with the editor Anal Roy Chowdhury and interacted with the injured staffs.

Both of them said, BJP does not support such things. However, the party will inquire about the incident. She reminded BJP Government’s good terms with the media fraternity.

Immediately after the attack, a delegation of senior journalist including Agartala Press Club Secretary Pranab Sarka, Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Sanit Debroy and others met SDPO Ramesh Yadav on a deputation last night. They demanded arrests of the miscreants involved in the attack on media house.

However, since no one was arrested so far, media delegation led by Pranab Sarkar went to Police HQ to hold talks with Police Officials to take stock of present situation.
