Council of Ministers of Tripura gave nod for appointing seven physicians including one Neurosurgeon at GBP Hospital on contract basis. Besides, the Cabinet also decided to revise the salary of regular Faculties of the Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (RIPSAT) as per the 7th Pay Commission’s recommendation.

Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat in Agartala on Tuesday, ICA Minister Sushanta Choudhury informed the media about the cabinet decisions.

“The State cabinet has decided to appoint 7 physicians including a Neurosurgeon, Assistant Anesthetist, Medical Officers at GBP Hospital on contract basis. At present, one Neuro surgeon is working in GBP Hospital”, Choudhury told the media.

He further said, a total of 2525 patients availed neuro treatment facilities in OPD during 2019 to September 25, 2021 out of which 459 patients underwent successful surgeries. “This is a great achievement for the State Health sector. Moreover, Cardio Thoracic services will soon be introduced”, Choudhury said.

Choudhury also said, Salaries of regular faculties of RIPSAT have been decided to be enhanced according to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.

Besides, honorarium of Chairman of Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights under the Social Welfare department has been increased to Rs 10,000 from existing Rs 5000 while the same for the members hiked to Rs 5000 from Rs 2000.

On another note, the Minister said, “With the expansion of areas under 10 Urban Local Bodies under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), additional 4490 job cards were issued – total number of job cards, at present, increases to 69,099 in ULBs under the AMC”.

In this connection, Choudhury also said, Rs 70 crore have been earmarked in the budget for TUEP scheme. Man-days will be created for the beneficiaries during the upcoming Puja Season, he commented.
