The much talked ‘Khela Hobe Diwas’ programme in Tripura was a damp squib. Even presence of Prasun Banerjee, the well known yester year football player turned politician failed attract people in the Khela Hobe Diwas observance programme.

 

In contrast, huge crowd gathered at the Agartala Airport and other areas in Agartala to welcome the Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik – the first resident of Tripura in Central cabinet.

 

For the past few days, several TMC leaders of Bengal are camping in Tripura. They announced to observe the Khela Hobe Diwas in the State on Monday. Accordingly, Bengal based and Local TMC leaders along with some of the local people rallied through different roads in Agartala today.  They also raised the ‘Khela Hobe’ slogan. The TMC activists then gathered at Swami Vivekananda ground.

 

However, the Khela Hobe Diwas was literally became a flop show due to lukewarm responses from the people. TMC has only handful supporters at this moment in Tripura. In today’s programme, mostly Bengal based leaders and local leaders staged the show without any noticeable participation of people.   

 

In the meantime, a Bengali film actress and TMC’s youth leader Saayoni Ghosh has arrived in the state on Monday to boost party base.

 

Meanwhile, on the Independence Day, two TMC MPs who are camping in Tripura – Dola Sen and Aparupa Podder among other Trinamool Congress (TMC) activists were injured as they came under an alleged attack unleashed by the ruling party-backed miscreants at Sabroom in South Tripura.

 

The attack incident was reported during a National Flag hoisting programme at Nandigram of South Tripura district on the occasion of Independence Day.

 

Dola Sen alleged that the policemen had turned mute spectators, leaving a space to the attackers.

 

Superintendent of Police, South Tripura- Kulwant Singh confirmed the attack incident and said “police didn’t have any prior information regarding movement of the TMC leaders.”

 

However, the injured persons were shifted to GBP hospital while a protest was staged near Gandhi statue at Circuit House following the incident.
