A condolence meeting was held in Agartala Press Club on Monday in the memory of slain media person Santanu Bhowmik. On the 4th death anniversary of Bhowmik, several condolence meetings were organized by the media persons in the State today.
Santanu Bhowmik was hacked to death on September 20, 2017 at Mandai In West Tripura.
In the programme at Agartala Press Club, one minute silence was observed and Media persons lit candles in the memory of Bhowmik. Agartala press club president Subal Dey, vice president Arun Nath, secretary Pranab Sarkar and other members paid tributes to Bhowmik.
Besides, DYFI also paid tribute to deceased Santanu Bhowmik in a separate programme in Agartala today.
A condolence meeting was also organized by Bishalgarh Press Club. After paying floral tributes to Bhowmik, Bishalgarh Press Club president Bhabatosh Ghosh, vice president Samir Bhowmik and others demanded legal actions against killers.
Condolence meetings were also held at Belonia and Kalyanpur. Media persons paid tributes to Santanu Bhowmik and prayed for his soul. Media persons demanded actions against the persons involved in the brutal killing of Bhowmik. In his memory, media persons lit candles.
Recalling the killing, president of Kalyanpur Press Club Sajal Deb termed the day as a black day in the history media in the State.
Apart from media persons, local people also participated in the condolence meetings and paid tributes.
