Birth anniversary of Sachin Dev Burman, who hailed from Tripura, was celebrated in the State on Friday. ICA Minister Sushanta Choudhury inaugurated the main programme in Agartala while Deputy Chief Minister opened the celebration programme at Charilam today.
Information and Cultural Affairs Minister (ICA) Sushanta Choudhury stressed the need to nurture the history and culture of the State. Royal era ushered uniqueness on the cultural ambience of the State – present-day cultural sphere needs to be enriched by capitalizing this rich cultural heritage and legacy, Choudhury said after inaugurating the State-level birth anniversary of legendry musician Kumar Sachin Dev Burman in Agartala on Friday.
Sachin Dev Burman is the pride of Tripura. He took the cultural heritage of the State to the International arena. Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma said after inaugurating the sub-divisional level celebration of the birth anniversary of legendry singer and music composer Sachin Dev Burman at Charilam on Friday.
He said, “Tripura is a state of cultural sphere of mixed population. Culture of Music, Dance and Dance drama existed in this land since ancient times and Sachin Dev Burma carried forward the legacy and enriched the cultural heritage of the State”.
At Agartala, ICA Minister Sushanta Choudhury said, “Sachin Dev Burman is one of the most notable persons of the State. His Hindi or Bengali music compositions still enthral people. The popularity of his songs is shining even in present days. The cultural heritage of Sachin Deb Burman will help us to take cultural activities of the State to a new height”.
To enrich the cultural atmosphere of the State, Choudhury said, special attention will be paid to set up a Film Institute, cultural hub etc.
Among others vice chairman of advisor of the Cultural Committee, ICA secretary Prashant Kumar Goyal and chairman of Society for Management of cultural complex Kamal Deb were present in the programme.
Besides, several programmes were organized other places including Udaipur and Belonia.
