A tragic incident occurred at Belonia under the South Tripura District on Wednesday in which one person died of electrocution and three others including a woman were injured. The incident occurred at one Chandan Majumdar’s residence near SBI Bank, 1 No. Tila area under the Belonia police station. A group of construction workers were electrocuted while working on an RCC pillar in Majumdar’s residence.
Upon receiving the news, the Belonia fire brigade rushed to the spot and shifted the injured workers to Belonia Hospital. Unfortunately, one of the workers, Subrata Karmakar (Kalu) from Shaltila area, succumbed to his injuries. The attending physician at the hospital declared him dead after a thorough examination. The other three injured workers are currently undergoing treatment at Belonia Hospital.
It is reported that construction work was underway on an RCC pillar for the building at Chandan Majumdar’s residence near SBI Bank. While fixing the rods of the RCC pillar, the construction workers, including Subrata Karmakar, came into contact with an overhead electric wire. This resulted in an electric shock, leading to Subrata Karmakar’s death. Three other workers, including a woman, were also injured in the incident.
The untimely demise of Subrata Karmakar cast a deep shadow of sorrow over the entire area.
