Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb asserted on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi already fulfilled his promise of making Tripura, a HIRA – Highway, I-way, Railway and Airway, – in less than three years. He made the comment while visiting Khowai today.  

 

He dwelt in detail on components of the ‘HIRA’. Referring to the development of Highways, one of the components of the HIRA model, Deb said works of Rs. 7000 crore are already in progress in the State for highway development. Besides, a plan for works of more Rs. 7000 crore are also in the pipeline. He continued and said such highways would connect all the sub-divisions.

 

On railway and Internet components of the ‘HIRA’, Deb said express train and other services were incorporated in the rail network while the internet services were also improved. Besides, an international airport would soon be seen functioning in the state, he added.

 

During his visit to Khowai, Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated the newly-constructed buildings of District Magistrate (DM) office and Superintendent of Police (SP) office as well as a Primary Health Centre at Baijalbari.

 

The new DM and SP offices have been constructed at the cost of Rs. 2 crore and Baijalbari PHC has been built at an expenditure of around Rs. 1.75 lakh.

 

Addressing the inaugural programme, the Chief Minister spoke on the various development works initiated by the State and the Central governments.

 

Principal Secretary to Health- J.K. Sinha, District Magistrate, Khowai- Smita Mol among others were present in the programmes.

 

In the meantime, the Chief Minister also took part in Sainik Sammelan at the headquarters of 6th-Bn TSR at Ramchandraghat.
