In an attempt to provide better services to consumers and to increase operational efficiency as well as reduce Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses in areas under Kailashahar Electrical Division, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) entered into a distribution franchisee agreement with a private company. Initially, the move sparked resentment among the local people and many criticized the Government for ‘privatizing’ the TSECL.

 

After the responsibility of Kailashahar Electrical divisions, the private company – Sai Computers – had to face harsh criticism from the consumers. However, over the period, the company managed to earn the confidence of the common people.

 

The Company has tasted success in bringing down the figure of pending bills at Kailasahar. At present, there are a total of 30000 consumers availing the service of the private company in the sub-division. Meanwhile, in order to render 24X7 service at the doorstep, the power maintenance offices at Dolugaon, Tilabazar, Srirampur and other areas have been transformed into the branch office of the Sai company.

 

The company is now mulling to open a branch office at Gournagar. Apart from, improving the operational efficiency, the company has succeeded in generating employment opportunities for a large section of unemployed youths at the Kailasahar sub-division and other parts.

 

A total of 11 mobile vans have been deployed to ensure faster services. The Company is designing a facility for spot bill payment facility for the customers.

 

The company, currently operating in nine states of India including Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura has experience in implementing advanced technologies across many utilities.
