The BJP-IPFT Government after assuming power in Tripura has introduced as many as 37 reforms, so far, in the education Sector. Apart from regularization of services of Science teacher, the State Government also recruited more than 3000 teachers during last three years.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this during the state-level programme of 60th Teacher’s Day at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in the city on Sunday. Several programmes were held across the State to observe the Teachers’ Day in which teachers were felicitated.
Paying rich tributes to teachers, Deb said the ideal teachers play the leading role in building prosperous and developed society by making ideal students– the Swanirbhar future of the students is built through proper guidance of the teachers.
The Chief Minister said the quality of education has improved following which the guardians are now sending their children to government schools.
“The incumbent Government introduced a total of 37 reforms – 26 reforms in School education and 11 in Higher Education – after assuming power. This never happened in the past”, Deb said and added that the reforms could be introduced owing to the cooperation of teachers.
Continuing further, Deb said, more than 3000 teachers were recruited through transparent recruitment policy and services of around 1000 Science teachers were regularized.
He said 100 percent target couldn’t be achieved under Notun Disha project due to Covid pandemic. But, Deb administered an oath to all present in the hall with a goal to achieve 100 percent target under the scheme by November 14 next.
Education Minister Ratanlal Nath, Revenue Minister N.C. Debbarma, Chief Secretary Kumar Alok, Secretary to Education department- Saumya Gupta, Director of Elementary Education Chandni Chandran, Higher Education director N.C. Sharma and chairman of Higher Education Council Auronoday Saha were present in the programme.
On this occasion of Teacher’s Day, the state government honoured five persons for their special contributions.
According to a Government press release, Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar award has been given to Baharul Islam Majumder and Pijush Kanti Sarkar. Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Samman has been conferred upon Dr. Jayanta Ray, Maharani Tulsibati award has been given to Principal of Maharaja Bir Bikram College- Prof Dipannita Chakraborty (Roy Chowdhury) and Shyamaprasad Mukherjee (posthumous) award has been given to late Om Ranjan Gupta. The award has been received by his son Basab Gupta.
Besides, 39 teachers, nine schools and two colleges have been awarded in the programme.
