Veteran CPM leader and Convener of Left Front in Tripura, Bijan Dhar could not be airlifted to Kolkata for better treatment.
Physical condition of Dhar who tested Covid positive remains unchanged, but stable.
He could not be airlifted to Kolkata for treatment on Saturday as scheduled earlier.
According to party sources, an air ambulance arrived today. However, due to unfavourable weather in Kolkata. Tomorrow, attempts will be made to fly out him if concerned physicians permit as well as weather condition improves, party sources said.
At present, he is undergoing treatment at ICU of GB Hospital Covid Care Centre.
Dhar is also a patient of acute diabetes .
“Doctors said his condition is presently stable but they said it may turn critical any moment. The creatinine level has shot up”, said one of Dhar’s relatives.
He said the veteran Communist leader’s kidneys are not in good condition due to his high sugar level. As kidneys are not in position to accept some types of medicines which would be required for Covid treatment, he needs better treatment facilities.
Considering the patient’s condition doctors felt that he should be shifted to Kolkata hospital.
Party sources said, if weather in Kolkata improves as well as if attending doctors give green signals, Dhar will be airlifted to Kolkata on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Left supporters are spending time amidst great worry. Just two days ago, CPM State secretary Gautam Das succumbed to Covid on September 16.
Even before the Left supporters could overcome the shock, Bijan Dhar’s health condition has caused fresh distress.
