State’s tourist spots are being put up attractively to national and international tourists. Efforts to attract tourists towards the state are continuing with the mentality of `Atithi Devo Bhava’, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said after inaugurating World Tourism Day celebration programme at Rabindra Bhawan on Monday.

The Chief Minister said, the state government has taken exceptional and innovative initiatives for tourism development using natural beauty of the state. The theme for World Tourism Day 2021 is Tourism for Inclusive Growth. The main message of this day is employment generation and developing tourism prospects to unite all the communities of the world.

Deb in the programme said, success will be achieved if curiosity can be generated through right kind of publicity and expansion in tourism sector. Even if the state does not have a Taj Mahal, it has serene natural beauty including many historic tourist spots. Attraction among tourists will generate for these tourist spots only when curiosity can be created among people.

He said, tourism is a mentality and a thought which can be developed through right management. He emphasized upon improving infrastructure and services so that people could enjoy the environment of the tourist spots forgetting all their busy schedule and stress of life. He said, state government has taken various steps to bring advancement in this sector. People visiting the state should feel secure and comfortable.

Tourism Minister Pranajjit Singha Roy in the programme said, government is working to build the state into a prosperous state in tourism. State’s tourist spots are being transformed according to the tourist’s demands. He said, steps have been taken for adventure tourism, paragliding, pars mounting etc. The department is working with positivity using the natural resources that Tripura is blessed with. Plans have been taken to construct a helipad at Narikelkunj so that tourist could reach the tourist spot in very less time regardless of geographical distance.

Central government has also extended a helping hand for development and expansion of the tourist spots. Work is ongoing to implement big opportunities for development of tourism focusing on Tripureswari Mandir.

Secretary of tourism department Kiran Gitte said, fast income opportunities generate through tourism development. Quite many innovations are being brought up for development of tourism in the state. Various plans for human resource development are being implemented which is related with tourism. Tripura is moving ahead for economic development through tourism development.

Top 3 position holders in the photo exhibition in World Tourism Day celebration programme were awarded. Apart from that, few persons were awarded in the programme for their special contribution in tourism field. Others present in the programme were former Vice Chancellor of Tripura University Arunodoy Saha, and Managing Director of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation T.K. Chakma.
