The works of providing water supply connection to households in the State should be done maintaining transparency. The Government will not tolerate any irregularities to this end. Drinking water and Sanitation (DWS) Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said in a workshop on Monday.

 

DWS-Tripura-SIPARD

The workshop was held at SIPARD in Agartala today. The workshop was held with the initiative of the DWS department in collaboration with Narendrapur Ram Krishna Mission Lokshiksha Parishad of Kolkata and SIPARD, Agartala.

 

Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated the workshop in presence of the Narendrapur RK Mission Maharaj and other dignitaries.

 

Chowdhury clearly mentioned the intention of the Government and urged to work in a transparent manner. He said, works are undergoing to provide water supply connections to every household by December 2022.

 

The one day consultation workshop aimed at formulation and adaption of State Policy, Strategy Programms for the 2nd phase of Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G).   

 

In his speech, the Minister said, the Swachh Bharat Mission started with the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. In Phase 1 of the Mission, target was set to construct 2 lakh 99 thousand 654 toilets in the State.

 

“Already 1 lakh 22 thousand 206 toilets have been constructed so far. Based on this performance, rural areas of the State were announced as Open Defecation Free (ODF). This is a big achievement for the people of the State”, Chowdhury commented.  

 

In today’s programme, Chief Secretary Kumar Alok, PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte, Secretary of Narendrapur Ram Krishna Mission Lokshiksha Parishad Swami Sarvalokananda Maharaj and other dignitaries were present.
