The moot question here is who will be the ‘face’ of TMC in Tripura.
Atithi Devo Bhaba, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said while commenting on alleged detention of I-PAC team in Agartala.
He said, People of Tripura as per the Indian tradition, believe in Atithi Devo Bhaba, so also the Government of Tripura. Police do their job in which Government does not intervene. Moreover, as August 15 is approaching, we all need to keep in mind that Tripura is a bordering State.
His statement gives an unambiguous signal to any one arriving in Tripura.
As expected, for second successive day, I-PAC issue continued to dominate the political domain of the State. I-PAC issue provided a launching pad for TMC and its leaders grabbed the opportunity.
With all the happenings – I-PAC obtaining bail, arrival of two more TMC leaders Derek O’Brien and Kakali Ghosh Dastider in Agartala, the Chief Minister’s Atithi Devo Bhaba statement, joining of Subal Bhowmik who fought LS Polls on a Congress ticket – at the end of the day, problem for TMC to find a viable ‘face’ for the party in Tripura remains elusive.
Addressing a press meet, TMC leaders said that they could sense resentment of local people against the BJP. The leaders also reiterated that TMC in Tripura would be led by local leader – the moot question here is who will be the ‘face’ of TMC in Tripura.
Will Subal Bhowmik become the ‘face’ of TMC in Tripura. Bhowmik switched parties frequently than anyone can think. He has done it 5 times already. Bhowmik even tried to join TMC on earlier occasion – however, Mamata Banerjee’s cold response poured water in his endeavour. Now what? Will she accept Bhowmik as the face of Tripura TMC?
In fact, dearth of an able and well accepted leader is the main problem also for both the CPM and Congress. Lack of any charismatic personality will also affect TMC’s electoral prospect.
TMC fought elections on earlier occasions also without an all acceptable ‘face’ and the results were disappointing for the party.
Who will lead TMC in Tripura will be an important indicator to understand as to whether TMC is serious about Tripura or just playing around, as alleged by BJP.
