The Tripura Unit of Yuva Congress hit streets in Agartala on Friday protesting against Pegasus issue. Tripura Pradesh Congress Chief Pijush Biswas led the protest.

Incidentally, the protest programme over the Pegasus issue came up soon after State Congress conceded one of its AICC members to Trinamool Congress on Thursday.

Yuva Congress activists led by Biswas held a demonstration and raised slogans on the Pegasus issue as well as expressed solidarity with the agitating farmers in Delhi and other areas against the three Agri-bills.

The manner in which phones of politicians, journalists and other persons were hacked using the Pegasus spyware is a matter of grave concern. Opposition parties are demanding discussions on Pegasus issue and three Farm laws. However, the ruling BJP is not allowing any such discussions in the Parliament, said the agitating Yuva Congress leaders.

Hitting out at the Union Government over the Pegasus snooping report, Pijush Biswas alleged, “Telephones of Rahul Gandhi and staffs of his office were also snooped using the Pegasus spyware. The snooping on many eminent persons was going on from 2019. It is observed that the Pegasus could be procured and used only by a Government of a country”.

“Some members of the Union Cabinets also were under surveillance like politicians of other parties. The Prime Minister is not making any statement on this issue. Such surveillance is against the idea of privacy of a citizen and dangerous for the security of the Nation”.

Opposition leaders are demanding a discussion on the issue in Parliament. However, the ruling party is reluctant. People are also raising the demand across the country, Biswas said and added, an impartial investigation under the Apex Court into the Pegasus snooping report and the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi must be initiated. He also demanded the suspension of Amit Shah in this context.

Besides, Biswas also slammed the Central Government for three Farm Bills. Later, Police arrested the agitators.
