The Accountant General’s Eastern Region Carrom Competition concluded with Tripura PAG finishing in third place. The championship title was clinched by Assam AG, while the runner-up spot went to the West Bengal ‘A’ AG team.

In the men’s veterans category, Debashis Chakraborty of Tripura PAG emerged as the champion, bringing pride to the host team.

The three-day event, held at Kunjaban, concluded with a prize distribution ceremony on Tuesday afternoon. The winners were felicitated in an event organized by the Accountant General of PAG Tripura, Ranendu Sarkar, Senior DAG Kavyadip Joshi, and Senior EDG Tanushree Biswas.

AG-Carrom-TripuraIn the men’s singles category, G Subhash Sharma of AG Manipur became the champion. He scored two white slams (striking all the white coins into the pockets). In this category, JK Tamuli of AG Assam was the runner-up, Jnan Chand of AG Odisha was third, Arindam Nath of AG Assam was fourth, Manoranjan Das of AG Odisha was fifth, Rajiv Ranjan of AG Bihar was sixth, Raju Kumar of Bihar was seventh, and Deepankar Das of AG Assam was eighth. There were 44 contestants.

In the women’s singles, out of 13 contestants, Rinki Ranjan of AG Jharkhand became the champion, Kavita Rani of AG Bihar was the runner-up, Shyamali Biswas of AG West Bengal ‘A’ team was third, and Shipra Das of PAG Tripura was fourth.

In the veterans category, Tripura’s Debashis Chakraborty won the title. Besides him, Shital Kumar Roy of AG Assam was the runner-up, Prashanta Basak of AG West Bengal ‘A’ team was third, and Vijay Roy of AG Bihar was fourth. A total of 9 people competed in this category.

The tournament’s chief referee, Manoj PS, thanked PAG Tripura in his report for the excellent organisation of the tournament. Along with the officials, he specially thanked the referee and organizing committee members Dhiman Gupta, Jhantu Dasgupta, Manikant Roy, and the general secretary of the Recreation Club, Pradeep Kumar Nandi.

After a one-day break, the AG’s Inter-Zone Carrom Competition is also scheduled to be held in Agartala from November 28 for three days.
