Tripura Cricket teams in Ranji match and U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy

Ranji Trophy: Tripura Outclassed by Railways as Batting Collapse Continues

Agartala, Nov 19: Tripura’s Ranji Trophy campaign took another massive hit as Railways handed them a crushing innings-and-116-run defeat, ending the four-day match in less than three days. The loss marks Tripura’s third defeat of the season and highlights once again the alarming fragility of their batting order.

Scores:

  • Tripura: 136 & 193
  • Railways: 446/9
  • Result: Railways won by an innings and 116 runs

Railways took full advantage of Tripura’s first-innings collapse, making the outcome inevitable by the close of Day 2 at the Sardar Patel Stadium. Entering the third day, the only question was whether Tripura could stretch the match by avoiding an innings defeat, but the batting unit stumbled again in the second innings and failed to survive the pressure.

Tripura were bowled out for 136 in their first outing, while Railways responded emphatically with a commanding 446, creating a massive 310-run lead. In the final innings, Tripura folded for just 193 despite a few determined contributions from the top order.

Among the batters, opener Babul Deb, wicketkeeper-batsman Sentu Sarkar, and professional recruit Swapnil Singh showed resistance in the second innings. Swapnil top-scored with a fighting 41 off 79 deliveries, including four boundaries. Babul Deb added 37 off 83 with six boundaries, while Sentu Sarkar chipped in with 30 off 51, and Amit Ali contributed 19 from 61 balls. However, no other batter managed to stay long enough to build partnerships.

Railways’ success was largely powered by the bowling performance of R.K. Chowdhury, who picked up five wickets for 35 runs, while Shibham Chowdhury supported effectively with three wickets for 19.

After five matches this season, Tripura have collected only six points. Their next challenge will be against Uttarakhand from November 22 to 25 at the MBB Stadium in Agartala, where the team will urgently need turnaround solutions to revive their campaign.

Cooch Behar Trophy: Tripura’s First Win of the Season Rests on Final Day Batting

Agartala, Nov 19: Tripura will rely heavily on their young batting group on the final day of the Cooch Behar Trophy match as they chase a demanding target to secure their opening victory of the season. With all ten wickets intact, Tripura require 331 runs on Wednesday, making disciplined and mature batting the key to turning opportunity into success.

The match at MBB Stadium has produced an intense contest so far. Haryana were bowled out for 172 in their first innings, after which Tripura grabbed a narrow 23-run lead by posting 195. However, Haryana rebounded strongly, accumulating 381/7 in their second innings before declaring after 85 overs and setting Tripura a challenging fourth-innings target of 359.

Tripura ended Day 3 at 28 for no loss, laying the platform for a result that could go either way depending on the performance of the top order on the final day. Joy Chakraborty remained unbeaten on 17 off 27 deliveries with three boundaries, while Dipankar Bhatnagar stayed not out on 9 from 27 balls with two fours.

Haryana’s second-innings fightback was powered by a series of aggressive and confident knocks. Moksh Mudgil scored 69 off 103 balls with 12 boundaries. Rudraksh Narbal matched that effort with 69 off 71 deliveries, striking eight boundaries and a six. Yash Adhana contributed 54 from 91 balls with 11 boundaries, while Garish Dahiya added a brisk 55 off 75 including three fours and four sixes. Ali Malik made 45 off 69, further increasing the pressure on Tripura.

Scores:

  • Haryana: 172 & 381/7 (Declared)
  • Tripura: 195 & 28/0
  • Target: Tripura need 359 to win (331 more on final day)

Tripura’s bowling saw contributions from Deep Deb and Arif Mia, both claiming two wickets each, but the attack struggled to contain Haryana’s attacking approach.

As the match moves into its decisive phase, Tripura’s fate will depend entirely on whether their batters can stay composed, build partnerships, and convert the opportunity into their first victory of the season—or surrender the advantage despite leading after the first innings.
