TTAADC Polls: CM, BJP leaders review party’s strength and weakness
Agartala, Nov 9: Amid the growing political buzz ahead of next year’s TTAADC elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday convened a high-level strategy meeting to assess its preparedness and organizational strength across Tripura.
The meeting, described as crucial by senior functionaries, was co-chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and BJP Tripura Pradesh president Rajib Bhattacharjee at the party headquarters.
Several MLAs, senior leaders, and office bearers of the party, along with representatives from various frontal organizations, were present to chart out the party’s roadmap for the months ahead.
Discussions centered on TTAADC and local body polls
Addressing the media after the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said the deliberations primarily focused on formulating the party’s election strategy.
“The meeting was convened to discuss our preparedness for the forthcoming elections, including the TTAADC and local body polls scheduled for next year,” he said.
“We reviewed various organizational and logistical aspects and exchanged views on strengthening the party’s presence at the grassroots level.”
When asked about the possibility of a pre-poll alliance with the Tipra Motha party, Dr. Saha clarified that the meeting was confined strictly to internal party matters.
“We have only discussed our own organizational strategies,” he said, avoiding any direct comment on potential alliances.
Observers’ Feedback under review
Party insiders revealed that the meeting also reviewed the preliminary feedback reports submitted by observers appointed to assess conditions in the 28 TTAADC constituencies.
“In each constituency, dedicated observers were assigned to evaluate both the strengths and weaknesses of the local organization,” a senior BJP leader said on condition of anonymity.
“These observers have been holding ground-level interactions with party workers at different levels — from booth to mandal — to gauge the actual situation.”
The source further explained that the initial reports presented during the meeting were not entirely comprehensive.
“In some areas, our observers faced communication barriers, which limited their reach. As a result, the party leadership has decided to extend the deadline for submitting the complete reports by another week,” he added.
Follow-up meeting next week
The BJP has scheduled another review meeting next week to discuss the final organizational assessment report. The follow-up session is expected to play a key role in fine-tuning the BJP’s strategy ahead of the elections, with emphasis on mobilizing grassroots workers and addressing internal gaps identified during the survey.
Party leaders believe that the structured review exercise will help the organization approach the upcoming polls in a more coordinated and performance-oriented manner.
