A newborn girl was found and recovered from a forest area near the Barmura Eco Park under Teliamura Police station on Saturday.
It is learnt, one passerby was walking back to his home along the Assam-Agartala NH today. As he reached the Eco Park area, he heard the cries of a baby. Shocked and bewildered, the unknown passerby mustered courage to find the source of cries.
And, he found a newborn baby lying and crying in the jungle. He rushed back to the road and alerted the local people. Also, the Police were informed.
Soon, Police led by SIs Pritam Datta and Subhankar Debbarma along with TSR jawans reached the spot.
However, even before Police reached, the passerby who heard the cries and found the baby, with the help of local people picked up the baby from the jungle.
Police took the baby to the Teliamura Sub-divisional Hospital. In-charge doctors and medical staff nursed the baby. Medical checkups revealed that the baby was in fine health.
“It appeared the baby was born 1-2 days ago and was abandoned in forest”, sources said.
After the medical examinations were completed, Police and civil administration handed over the baby girl to the Child Line authority.
Local people are talking about the decaying moral values, also are hailing the unknown passerby who saved the life of the abandoned newborn baby but remained anonymous.
