Tripura Olympic Association (TOA) is set to form a new executive committee unopposed, with Dr. Dipa Karmakar nominated as president. Nominations for all 15 posts, including vice presidents, general secretary, and executive members, were submitted smoothly. The new committee is expected to be declared on May 13, promising a fresh vision for Tripura’s sports ecosystem.
Agartala, May 4: The process for forming the new executive committee of the Tripura Olympic Association (TOA) moved ahead smoothly on Sunday with the completion of nomination paper submissions. All 15 posts – including eight office-bearer and seven executive member positions – received a single nomination each, ensuring an unopposed committee formation.
The nomination papers were submitted to Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Kundan Pandey at the Shahid Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala today, with no additional contenders entering the fray. According to the election notification issued by Returning Officer Justice (Retd.) Arindam Lodh of the Tripura High Court, scrutiny of the submitted nominations will be conducted on Monday.
Though the election date was originally scheduled for May 23, TOA sources indicated that with no contest in any of the posts, the new committee is expected to be officially declared on May 13.
Among the notable nominees, acclaimed gymnast and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Dipa Karmakar has filed her nomination for the post of TOA president. For the three vice president positions, nominations have been submitted by Swapan Saha, Advocate Raju Dutta, and Samir Das.
Sujit Roy is in the running for General Secretary, while Krishnapada Sarkar and Hulu Pal have filed nominations for the Joint Secretary posts. Ratan Kumar Das is the lone nominee for Treasurer.
The seven nominated Executive Members are: Pinaki Chakraborty, Rahul Bhattacharjee, Amiya Kumar Das, Minati Pal, Rupak Kumar Saha, Ajay Dutta, and Santanu Sutradhar. No other nominations were submitted for executive member’s posts.

The election process is being overseen by a three-member ad hoc committee of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) assigned to Tripura with Justice Lodh being the RO. The nomination submission phase concluded without any disputes or complications.
