May 13, 2018: The Asom Association of Tripura organized 18th Rangoli Bihu at Agartala town hall today. The Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman inaugurated the programme. Rogali Bihu is also popularly known as Bohag Bihu. Worldwide, the Rangoli Bihu is a well appreciated cultural extravaganza which is considered as harvest festival and also marks Assamese New Year.
Speaking on the occasion, I am proud that Rangoli Bihu is being organized for last 18 years and people are nurturing such wonderful culture in our state. He said, the central theme of the Bihu is ‘love and romance’.
It is learnt, several people of Assam are working in the State in different companies like ONGC, NEEPCO, Banks and other organizations. These employees formed the ‘Asom Association of Tripura’ and Bihu is being organized under the banner of the Association for last 18 years.
Although, it is an Assamese cultural event, local people in large number attend the Bihu programmes and enjoy the beauty of magnificent Bihu Utsav. During the programme, Bihu dance was presented by the team of Bakul Borah. Other Bihu artists also presented colourful and attractive dance forms in celebration of Rangoli Bihu.
