Speaking at the ceremonial signing event, Dr Manik Saha expressed pride over the collaboration with IHCL, a brand under the prestigious Taj Group. “During our visits to other states, we would admire the grandeur of Taj hotels and dream of having one in Tripura. Today, that dream is turning into reality,” he said, applauding the relentless efforts of both state and IHCL officials.
The Chief Minister revealed that although the initial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed earlier, the lease agreement formalizes the project and allows immediate commencement of work. While IHCL initially requested a three-year timeline, the state government has urged completion within two years.
Pushpabanta Palace, built in 1917 and formerly used as the Governor’s House, will now undergo restoration and retrofitting to accommodate 100 rooms, including four regal suites replicating palace aesthetics.

Work on retrofitting the palace has already begun, and the property was officially handed over to IHCL today.
