Mar 22, 2017: Union MoS Railways Rajen Gohain today addressed a BJP rally at Jolaibari in South Tripura today. The rally was organized to celebrate BJP’s recent victories in Assembly Polls in four out five States. People of Jolaibari as well as the whole State were expecting some new announcements relating to railway works in the State. However, Minister did not focus much on this issue, rather he concentrated on highlighting failures of the State Government.
A group of people demanded to introduce a train, named ‘Pilak’ to be introduced to assign importance to archaeological site and tourist spot Pilak at Jolaibari.
However, Gohain spoke elaborately on several Centrally Sponsored Schemes and said Tripura is lagging behind in course of development while whole country is marching forward under leadership of PM Modi.
He criticized the State Government for failure to conduct proper investigation into murder and rape charges. He expressed hope that saffron wave would rock Tripura also and install BJP in power ousting CPM.
However, the highlight of today’s victory rally was large exodus from TMC to BJP. Around 456 families, most of them were TMC supporters, have formerly joined BJP today in presence of Rajen Gohain, State BJP President Biplab Deb, State Prabhari Sunil Deodhar and other BJP leaders.
The exodus from TMC to BJP is expected to increase many fold after former TMC President Ratan Chakraborty along with other leaders formerly join BJP at Agartala tomorrow. The way TMC leaders, supporters and workers are joining BJP, it appears TMC in Tripura, like Congress, will be reduced to sign-board based party only. Going by the trend, it appears that scope of strong multi-corner poll contest is fast fading out.
