The attack was carried out while the BJP activists gathered at Taksapara of Asharambari Assembly Constituency under the Khowai District of Tripura today to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.

Speaking to the media, Dr Saha strongly condemned the attack. He termed it as a violent and undemocratic attack by the TMP supporters which cannot be tolerated.

Dr Saha visited GB Hospital to meet the injured BJP activists and inquired about their health condition.

Later, in a social media message, the Chief Minister said, “The violent attack carried out by Tripura Motha party workers at Asharambari during the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program today is utterly deplorable and anti-democratic. Many of our BJP workers were injured in this attack, three of whom are currently undergoing treatment at GB Hospital.

I visited the hospital to check on the condition of the injured workers and instructed the doctors to take necessary measures for their speedy recovery.Orders have already been issued to the police administration to take legal action against those involved in this incident. The government wants to make it clear that such shameless and violent attacks will not be tolerated under any circumstances”.

A sense deep resentment was observed among the BJP leaders and supporters after BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma alleged, rampaging TMP activists were shouting slogan saying ‘no Mann Ki Baat in the ADC could be allowed’. Many of the leaders, on condition of anonymity, opined the top leadership of the BJP must not turn a blind eye to this incident.

“It is a direct insult to the Prime Minister. Enough is enough and Central leaders must act on it in a decisive manner”, said a young Janjati leader.
