The campaign has been rolled out by the Health Department in collaboration with the Tripura National Health Mission. Alongside it, the introduction of an AI-based pilot training module on tuberculosis was highlighted as a landmark move towards adopting advanced technology for disease detection, training and effective management of public health challenges.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said the day holds special importance for the state’s health sector as it reflects both expansion and innovation in healthcare delivery. He drew attention to the growing global concern over non-communicable diseases, stating that a large section of the population is now affected by lifestyle-related ailments. Diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart conditions and various forms of cancer, particularly among people above 30 years of age, often go undiagnosed in the early stages, increasing the risk of serious complications.
The Chief Minister said the newly launched campaign focuses on prevention, awareness, early screening, timely treatment and continuous follow-up. Its objective is to identify diseases at an early stage, bring affected individuals under proper medical care and reduce long-term health risks through sustained monitoring.
Sharing key health statistics, Dr. Saha said that in the previous year, nearly 6.8 lakh people were screened in Tripura for diabetes and high blood pressure, leading to the identification of over 25,000 diabetes patients and more than 49,000 cases of hypertension. He also informed that 5.28 lakh women were screened for breast cancer and one lakh women for cervical cancer, with all diagnosed patients placed under treatment and regular follow-up.
Emphasising the role of technology in healthcare, the Chief Minister said the AI-enabled tuberculosis training module reflects the state’s effort to align with the national vision of using innovation for human welfare. He noted that such technology-based initiatives will strengthen the skills of healthcare workers and improve disease control outcomes.

Dr. Saha, who also serves as the Health Minister, reiterated that only a healthy population can contribute to building a strong society. He stressed the importance of awareness and disciplined lifestyles, while assuring that the government will continue to introduce new and improved health services for the benefit of citizens.
He further urged officers and staff at all levels of the Health Department to shoulder responsibility and work in coordination to ensure the success of both the Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Abhiyan and the AI-driven tuberculosis initiative.
Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, Tripura National Health Mission Director Saju Wahid, Health Director Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Director of Disease Prevention Dr. Anjan Das and Director of Medical Education Dr. H. P. Sharma were present at the event.
