October 04, 2017: Alleging the law and order situation in Tripura is ‘gradually worsening’, State BJP unit led by its president Biplab Deb today submitted a deputation to DGP AK Shukla. Among others, vice president of State BJP Subal Bhowmik and MLA Ashish Saha accompanied Deb.
The delegates focused on missing driver Jiban Debnath and sought DGP’s intervention to trace out Jiban who was missing since September 20 following a mob fury at Khumlung in West Tripura District.
Explaining about demand list, Biplab Deb said, BJP has demanded DGP’s intervention to find out whereabouts of the driver at the earliest. In addition to this, BJP also demanded CBI investigation into reporter Shantanu Bhowmik’s murder and steps to improve law and order condition in the State.
Jiban Debnath, driver of an ill-fated vehicle hired by Delhi based journalist Sanjjan Kumar has been missing since September 20 from Khumlung area after some miscreants set his vehicle ablaze. Even after 15 days, Police are clueless on whereabouts of Jiban. BJP has recently raised the issue and is trying to create pressure on the administration to find out details.
