October 06, 2017: CPIM will conduct rallies and public meetings across the country on October 9 to denounce ‘terror politics’ of BJP, said Tripura State CPIM Secretary Bijan Dhar today in Agartala. “BJP has adopted terror tactics in Kerala, Tripura and West Bengal and trying to divert people’s attention from burning issues and glaring failures of the BJP led Governments in Centre and States. Protesting against BJP’s communal politics and condemning anti-people policies of the Central Government, CPIM will hold protest rallies and organize public meetings on October 9 in Tripura along with the rest of the country”, Dhar said while addressing a press conference today.

Bijan Dhar congratulated and thanked people of Tripura as well as security personnel for ensuring peaceful celebration of Durga Puja festivals. He said, “In the wake of violence and arson on GMP supporters by IPFT , it is laudable that people of the State defeated the conspiracy of a section of people and ensured a trouble free Puja season”.

Referring to statements of Arun Shourie and other prominent BJP leaders, Dhar criticized the Modi-led Government bitterly and said Indian economy is in dire state. Dhar alleged, Modi-led Government has not only failed to fulfill its poll promises, but also miserably failed to generate employment and ensure higher growth rate during last three and half years. He said, much hyped GST has cast gloom for traders.  “Even traders of Modi’s Gujarat vehemently protested GST and hit streets in protest,” he said. Highlighting growing dissent among the common people in the country, Dhar said, farmers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are staging protests against Government’s policies. He also said, more than three lakhs protestors will hold demonstration at Jantar Mantar by turn to protest against privatization move. “If Government fails to respond positively, country may witness strikes”, he stated.

Bijan Dhar further alleged, BJP ruled States are witnessing several kinds of atrocities and violence, but there is no CBI inquiry – even Lokpal Act was not enacted in many BJP ruled States.  He criticized BJP for its decision to hold gherao agitation since Oct 4 at CPIM HQ in New Delhi. “BJP leaders led by the Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh have resorted to hold agitation in front of CPIM Party Head Office and holding Padayatra in Kerala to divert people’s attention from Central Government’s glaring economic failures and terror politics”.

Taking a potshot at BJP leaders, Dhar commented, “Even though it is a matter of pride that BJP has realized Leftists are real opponents of its anti-people policies and that’s why BJP is holding gherao abhiyan in CPIM party Head quarter. However, such act of BJP is condemnable”, he said.

Referring to violence allegedly unleashed by IPFT cadres on September 19, Dhar said, more than 60 GMP supporters were injured, 70 vehicles were ransacked and nine CPIM Party offices were set ablaze, mostly at Jirania area. “In Tripura, IPFT is attacking CPIM workers while BJP led by Union Minister is holding demonstration against us in New Delhi”, he commented.

Urging people to maintain peace and tranquility, he appealed to all to desist from all sorts of activities which may instigate communal violence. “Unless peace prevails, democratic rights of people and developmental activities will be affected”, he stated. Expressing deep concern over disappearnace of one driver after being attacked allegedly by IPFT, he said Police arrested an accused and investigation is going on. Condemning brutal murder of Shantanu Bhowmik – a local TV channel reporter – Bijan Dhar once again justified State Government’s decision to form SIT and said, State Police are capable enough to handle the case.
