October 10, 2017 : In its desperate bid to remain relevant in State Politics, Congress leaders floated the idea of a ‘Third Front’ in Tripura with all the anti-Left and anti-BJP forces. In a press conference today in Agartala, Gopal Roy, CLP leader said, State Congress unit will welcome ‘secular and anti-left’ forces to float a third platform to oust CPIM from power as well as prevent emergence of BJP in Tripura. Claiming that BJP is the real alternative of CPIM and BJP, Gopal Roy clearly mentioned that IPFT (NC) – a tribal based Party which has become politically ‘untouchable’ to other parties due to its aggressive ethno-centric politics – does not feature in Congress Party’s list for alliance. “IPFT (NC) is not included in the proposed anti-Left and anti-BJP alliance”, he said.
Talking about possible partners, Roy said, Discussions with Trinamool Congress and NCT – another tribal based Party are going on. He further stated, Congress had a discussion with IPFT of Rajeswar faction about forging an alliance.
Taking a dig at the BJP leaders over demand for CBI probe into reporter Shantanu’s murder, Gopal Roy demanded a CBI probe into the alleged meteoric rise of wealth of Jay Shah, son of Amit Shah.
Roy said, AICC secretary Bhupen Borah would be coming here on October 12 next and since then Congress here would launch electioneering in full gear.
