State to Launch State Innovation Mission (SIM-Tripura), T-NEST Incubation Platform on Feb 26
Agartala, Feb 25: The Government of Tripura will launch the State Innovation Mission – Tripura (SIM–Tripura) on February 26. The event will be held at the International Indoor Exhibition Centre in Hapania.
The Mission aims to build a strong and sustainable innovation system in the state. It will work as an “Innovation Block” under the State Support Mission of NITI Aayog. It will link Tripura’s development plans with national goals of cooperative federalism and better governance.
The Mission marks a shift from old scheme-based startup support to a structured and legally backed system. It will be professionally managed and based on coordination between departments.
On the same day, the government will launch T-NEST (Tripura: Nurturing Entrepreneurship and Startups). T-NEST will support startups through incubation and acceleration programmes. It will provide cohort-based training and sector-focused support. It will also introduce policy sandboxes and investor platforms to help entrepreneurs grow.
The programme will be attended by Suman Bery, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog; Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office; V. K. Saraswat, Member, NITI Aayog; and Rajib Kumar Sen, Programme Director at NITI Aayog. Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr Manik Saha will attend the event.
Senior officials, teachers, and students will join the programme. Startup stalls will be set up to display innovative ventures.
Tripura has seen growth in digital governance and rising interest in entrepreneurship among youth. The government will also use “PrabashiTripurabashi” to connect with the global diaspora for mentorship and investment.
SIM–Tripura will be managed by the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT) under the Good Governance Department. TIFT will handle funds and monitor progress.
The government hopes to attract private investment, create jobs, and develop Tripura as a leading innovation hub in the North-East.
