Constitution Is a Guiding Force, says Tripura Governor
Agartala Feb 27: The Constitution of India is not just a legal book. It is a guiding force that ensures justice, equality, and freedom for all citizens. This was said by Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu while inaugurating a seminar at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala.
The seminar was titled “Responsibility and Accountability of Public Representatives towards People of All Sections.” The Governor said accountability is the foundation of a strong democracy. Public representatives must ensure that constitutional rights reach every citizen.
He said elected leaders may represent one constituency, but their duty is towards the entire state. Development benefits must reach the last person in society.
Focus on Education, Women and Farmers
The Governor said Tripura has been declared a fully literate state. Now the focus should be on building a quality education system.
He said women empowerment has shown strong results. Many women have become “Lakhpati Didis.” Over one lakh women have become entrepreneurs.
Nearly 70 percent of the state’s people depend on agriculture. Public representatives must ensure farmers get benefits under PM-Kisan and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Leaders must act as a bridge between the government and the people.
Accountability Defines True Leadership: CM
Chief Minister Manik Saha said protecting people’s dignity is the main duty of a public representative. Leaders must maintain good conduct. They must stay connected with people throughout the year.
He said accountability, transparency, and ethics are the pillars of democracy. This seminar is a historic step toward stronger and people-centric governance.
India’s Democracy and Digital Governance
The Chief Minister said India is the world’s largest democracy. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s global image has improved. Every representative must protect this honor.
He said public service does not end after elections. Leaders must listen to people and solve problems quickly. They must support weaker and marginalized sections.
He also spoke about the Digital India era. Technology helps maintain direct contact with citizens. Sharing information online increases transparency and public trust.
He explained the role of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA). He said building a developed India requires building a developed Tripura. Collective effort and trust are essential.
CPA’s Role in Strengthening Democracy
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh said the CPA was established in 1911. It works to strengthen parliamentary democracy, good governance, and rule of law.
He said the organization helps improve the skills of public representatives. He also spoke about Tripura’s rich culture shaped by 19 tribal communities.
He said development in the Northeast has gained speed since 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He also mentioned the glorious history of the Manikya dynasty.
Leaders Call for Trust and Responsibility
West Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb said accountability is very important in democracy.
Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma said welfare schemes should be implemented together.
MP Kriti Devi Singh Debbarma said earning people’s trust is the biggest duty of a representative. Assam MP Parimal Suklabaidya spoke about the vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”

Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy said the day is important for Tripura. MLA Gopal Chandra Roy called the seminar timely. MLA Sudip Sarkar read a message from Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury.

Those present included Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, and Assembly Secretary Amiya Kumar Nath.
Cabinet members, Zilla Parishad leaders, TTAADC representatives, corporators, and Panchayat and block-level representatives also attended the seminar.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the seminar would strengthen accountability and make democracy more transparent and people-oriented in Tripura.
