Lucknow Mar 7: Central Command, Indian Army held its first ever Strategic Communication Conclave in Lucknow on March 7 with close to 500 people in attendance.
The PIB media delegation from Tripura, which is touring Lucknow, attended a session today.
The conclave held in Surya Auditorium, Lucknow Cantonment involved deliberations and panel discussions on Strategic Communication in national security architecture.
The panelists and speakers included senior diplomats, government communication experts and domain experts on defence and foreign policy from the media.
The attendees also included senior military personnel from Central Command, Indian Army, and communication professionals from government and the private sector.
The Conclave included an Expert Policy-Level Session on institutional and national security dimensions.
Two thematic Media Panel Discussions addressed perception management and information power, after which a Special Interaction Session on Multi-Domain Operations integrated policy and operational perspectives.
In his opening address Lt. Gen. Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C Central Command said, there has been a fundamental shift in the nature of conflicts, as now the battle space includes the information and cognitive domains.
With the role of perception management becoming crucial he added that, perception shapes legitimacy, legitimacy shapes influence, and influence shapes outcomes.
Army Commander spoke about the weaponisation of narratives and the threat from conflicts below the threshold of war.

He pointed out that Strategic communication cannot remain reactive, episodic or personality driven, but must be institutionalised, doctrine backed and capability driven.
Renowned defence and strategic affairs expert, Nitin Gokhale delivered the keynote address, setting the stage for further deliberations on the theme of the Concave – “Strategic Communication in the Emerging Info Space”.
