October 12, 2017: Lashing out at Modi-led Government’s economic policies and Hindutva plank, CPIM Politburo member Prakash Karat today said, BJP and RSS are now trying to push Hindutva plank to divert people’s attention from its failure to create job opportunities and messy implementation of GST. CPIM Politburo member Prakash Karat stated this in a public meeting at Birchandra manu in South Tripura.
“BJP Government has failed to create two crore jobs per year as promised, moreover demonetization and implementation of GST have cast negative impact on the growth of the economy”, said Karat while addressing a meeting was organized to observe the 30th Martyrs’ Day today to commemorate the massacre of 12 Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leaders and two of their security personnel on October 12, 1988 – during Congress-TUJS regime at Birchandra Manu.
Urging people to struggle against communal forces, Karat said, “Everyone knows how BJP wrested power in Manipur and other NE States, however, that ploy of BJP will not succeed in Tripura and Leftists will rout BJP with the help of people.”
Karat said from November 3, party workers from across the country would hold sit-in demonstrations in Delhi for three days to highlight the BJP’s anti-worker policies and governance.
CPI-M Politburo member and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in his address said suicides by farmers had increased by 40 to 42 per cent in the three-and-a-half year rule of the Modi government.
He said: “The people of Independent India have never seen such an anti-people and dictatorial government in the country. This is the opportune time to overthrow them and install an alternative governance in the country.”
