Office sources reported, out of a total of 9,51,631 registered voters, over 7,43,130 votes had already been cast till 3pm, indicating an impressive overall turnout of around 78 percent.

As the TTAADC polling enters its final stages, tension has escalated sharply across multiple constituencies in Tripura.

Reports of vandalism, booth capturing attempts, and crude bomb explosions have surfaced from Takarjala, Kathalia, and Bir Chandra Kalshi, prompting a massive surge in security deployment to prevent further unrest.

Takarjala Crisis: The vehicle of BJP candidate Nirmal Debbarma was allegedly vandalized by miscreants. While the candidate escaped unharmed, central paramilitary forces were forced to intervene to disperse a chaotic mob. Locals claim over 15 motorcycles were damaged by “outsiders.”

Bomb Thrown at Bir Chandra Kalshi: Panic gripped the constituency after a gang of 30–40 bikers allegedly hurled a crude bomb to intimidate residents.

A second bombing incident was reported near SB School in Charanpaya, accompanied by clashes between BJP and Tipra Motha supporters.

Booth Capturing Attempt: In the Kathalia–Mirza–Rajapur constituency, alleged Tipra Motha supporters reportedly attempted to capture a booth in Tula Mura. Following resistance, the vehicle of BJP MLA Abhishek Debroy was pelted with stones.

14.50 pm: Total vote cast till 1pm

Voting across multiple Autonomous District Council (ADC) constituencies in Tripura witnessed a strong turnout, with overall participation reaching around 65% till 1 pm, according to the latest compiled data.

Out of a total 9.51 lakh registered voters, more than 6.18 lakh voters exercised their franchise. Female voter participation slightly outpaced male turnout in several constituencies, reflecting encouraging electoral engagement.

Among the constituencies, Purba Muhuripur-Buratali (ST) polled highest 73% votes while Damchera-Jampui recorded 51% only till 1 pm according to official sources.

14.30 pm: Violence at Mandai:

Allegations surfaced that BJP nominated candidate, Rajib Debbarma, was attacked at the Mandai Pulinpur constituency. Visuals show that his vehicle was attacked by miscreants who were pelting stones targeting the car. Tension gripped Booth No. 20 during the incident. Later, Rajib Debbarma was shifted to Champaknagar Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred around 30 mins after TMP supremo Pradyot Kishore left after casting his vote.

Meanwhile, West Tripura Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak rushed to Mandai following reports of a clash between supporters of Tipra Motha and the BJP. The situation has now been brought under control after prompt intervention by the administration.

Agartala April 12: Polling for the high-stakes TTAADC Polls 2026 Updates is currently underway across 28 constituencies, with a significant 45% voter turnout recorded by 11 AM. While the democratic exercise—shaping the future for 9.62 lakh eligible voters—has been largely festive, a violent outbreak in the Boxanagar area and allegations of booth capturing have surfaced.

Violence and Security Response

Despite the heavy deployment of CAPF (including BSF, SSB, and CRPF) and Tripura State Rifles (TSR), miscreants targeted the Dayal Para area under Boxanagar.

  • Bombing Incident: Miscreants reportedly hurled multiple bombs near a polling station.

  • Casualties: One individual sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

  • Security Action: Security personnel swung into action to restore order and maintain the perimeter.

Political Allegations and Voting Highlights

The political atmosphere remains charged as heavyweights cast their ballots and trade charges:

  • Jitendra Chaudhury Votes: CPIM Politburo leader and Leader of the Opposition cast his vote at Booth No. 27/39 (Sonai Mohon Para JB School). He described the atmosphere as a “festival” despite isolated disruptions.

  • Booth Capturing Claims: CPIM leader Radhacharan Debbarma has alleged that Tipra Motha Party (TMP) activists are creating a “terror ambiance” and have forcibly removed CPIM polling agents from several booths.

  • Arrests Made: Two reported TMP supporters, Hiranmoy Debbarma and Samar Debbarma, were nabbed by police at Nakstrabari (Ramchandra Ghat) for allegedly preventing polling agents from entering. Hiranmoy Debbarma reportedly fell ill following the arrest and is currently at GB Hospital.

Logistical Adjustments & Technical Snags

  • Strong Room Shift: The administration has moved the Strong Room for 18-Takarjala-Jampuijala from the Jampuijala SDM office to the DM office in Bishramganj for enhanced security.

  • EVM Issues: Several polling stations reported EVM malfunctions early in the day; however, officials confirmed that technical teams responded promptly to minimize delays.

Note: Polling is scheduled to continue until 4 PM across all 1,257 polling stations. Security remains on high alert to ensure the safety of the remaining electorate. According to reports, security arrangements may further be bolstered since 3pm to prevent occurance of any unwarranted incidents.
