Tripura CM outlines BJP’s multi-tier training drive
Agartala: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday announced the rollout of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) annual organisational training programme in Agartala. Dr Saha outlined a structured, three-tier initiative beginning at the mandal level.
The programme comes at a politically significant time, following the party’s recent by-poll success in Dharmanagar and earlier electoral setbacks in the TTAADC.
The training programme, a yearly exercise of the BJP, is designed to strengthen ideological clarity and organisational efficiency among party workers across Tripura.
Strengthening grassroots connect in Tripura
The announcement holds special relevance for Tripura’s evolving political landscape, where grassroots mobilisation often determines electoral outcomes.
With the Northeast region witnessing dynamic political shifts, such structured training is aimed at consolidating party presence at the booth and mandal levels.
Dr. Saha emphasized that the training is an “integral part” of party functioning and will begin at the mandal level with seven subjects.
These modules are partly curated by the party’s central leadership in New Delhi and supplemented with state-specific topics focusing on governance and development issues in Tripura.
Multi-level training structure
The programme will be executed in phases, ensuring a systematic flow from grassroots to leadership levels:
- Mandal Level:
- Seven subjects covering organisational basics and local governance issues
- Initial training for grassroots workers
- District Level:
- Eleven core subjects plus one additional topic (total 12)
- Expanded focus on administrative and political strategy
- State Level:
- Final phase aimed at leadership alignment and advanced ideological training
The initiative is being coordinated by convenor Subrata Chakraborty, with preparatory workshops already underway to train trainers who will conduct sessions at the mandal level.
Dr. Saha noted that the programme is rooted in the philosophy of Deendayal Upadhyaya, particularly the concept of “Antyodaya” — reaching the last person in society. He reiterated that the party’s approach prioritises the state first, followed by the nation and then the party.

A critical takeaway from Dr. Saha’s statement was the focus on the “Antyodaya” concept—the principle of reaching the last person in society. Under the leadership of state convenor Subrata Chakraborty, the workshop’s immediate goal is to “train the trainers.”
