October 22, 2017: The Tripura Government came up with a peculiar idea for retired staffs of PSUs like TRTC, Purbasha, Khadi etc. On October 12, Director of the State Food Department cum Additional Secretary issued a notice mentioning that retired staffs of PSUs will be provided with BPL cards.
“This is another instance of State Government’s apathetic attitude and deprivation meted out to the State Government. State BJP unit strongly denounce the decision and demand steps necessary to address economic problems of the PSU staffs and retired employees”, State BJP spokesperson Dr Ashok Sinha said today in Agartala.
Alleging that the decision is the ‘brainchild’ of State Finance Minister, he demanded statement from the Chief Minister regarding the decision.
Ironically, the State Government is in tussle with the Jute Mill workers who are demanding regular pay and pension as par other State Govt organization. Already in trouble with recruitment issue, the ‘awkward’ decision to issue BPL cards instead of gratuity and pension is expected to add ammunition in opposition kitty. The State Govt will once again find itself on a sticky wicket”, opined an Agartala based political observer.
