Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Friday slammed the Opposition CPIM hard and termed the Red Party ‘Politically Bankrupt’. He claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to capture 10 Assembly seats currently held by the CPI(M). Speaking at a felicitation programme in Agartala, he accused the Left party of becoming politically weak and attempting to damage the BJP through misinformation and propaganda.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while attending a programme organized to felicitate newly appointed Tripura BJP president and MLA Abhishek Debroy at Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala. He also stressed the importance of strengthening BJP’s booth-level structure across the state before the next Assembly elections.

Agartala: Dr. Saha repeatedly emphasized discipline and organizational unity within the BJP in his speech today. He said party workers must remain dedicated to public service and maintain strong communication with voters at the grassroots level.

According to him, booth committees and local party leaders will play a decisive role in shaping BJP’s electoral future in Tripura. He urged newly appointed state BJP president Abhishek Debroy to focus on strengthening the organization from the booth level upward.

The Chief Minister said the BJP government’s welfare measures and development projects must reach every household through effective grassroots outreach. He added that stronger booth management would help the party sustain its political dominance beyond 2028.

Dr. Saha also stated that the BJP has emerged as the only credible political force in Tripura. He claimed that both Congress and CPIM had already lost public trust in the state.

Sharp Criticism of CPIM & Opposition Politics

Launching a direct attack on the CPIM, the Chief Minister alleged that the Left party has become politically irrelevant across India. He argued that similar political decline should continue in Tripura as well.

Dr. Saha accused opposition groups of spreading “misleading narratives” through social media platforms and YouTube channels. According to him, these campaigns aim to create confusion among BJP workers and supporters.

He also asserted that BJP’s organizational discipline differentiates it from parties like Congress and Trinamool Congress.

The Chief Minister further alleged that CPIM leaders continue to glorify their previous rule in Tripura despite several governance failures. Referring to debates inside the Assembly, he claimed the Left leadership often projects its tenure as a “golden era.”

However, Dr. Saha countered those claims by linking several social issues, including the growth of drug-related crimes, to the previous Left regime.

“These drug mafias emerged during their rule. Now many of them are behind bars,” he said during the programme.

BJP Sets Electoral Target in Tripura

Dr. Saha openly declared BJP’s political objective of reducing CPIM’s presence in the Tripura Assembly by winning 10 seats from the Left Front.

The statement signals the BJP’s aggressive electoral strategy ahead of future state elections. Political observers believe the remarks reflect BJP’s focus on expanding its organizational influence even further in areas traditionally dominated by the CPI(M).

The Chief Minister also appealed to party workers to remain united and disciplined while carrying out political activities at the grassroots level.

Tripura Development Highlighted

Apart from political issues, Dr. Saha used the platform to showcase Tripura’s development achievements under the BJP-led government.

He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains satisfied with the pace of reforms and developmental activities in Tripura. The Chief Minister highlighted improvements in healthcare, education, literacy, and economic indicators.

News Analysis

The BJP leadership in Tripura appears to be shifting its focus toward organizational consolidation and booth-level expansion ahead of future elections. Dr. Manik Saha’s repeated emphasis on discipline and grassroots mobilization indicates that the party wants to maintain long-term political dominance in the state.

At the same time, the Chief Minister’s sharp criticism of CPIM reflects BJP’s strategy to weaken the opposition narrative in Tripura. By linking development achievements with political stability, the BJP leadership is attempting to reinforce public confidence in its governance model.

The political messaging also suggests that BJP wants to frame the next electoral battle as a direct contest between development-oriented governance and what it describes as outdated Left politics.
