Separately, the Assam Rifles organised a wreath-laying ceremony at Modi Garrison in Chandel district to commemorate four soldiers who died in the line of duty on September 9, 1963.
The ceremony took place under the aegis of the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Headquarters.
The force paid tribute to Havaldar Maniliana Lushai, Rifleman Damor Bahadur, Rifleman Satal Singh Rai and Rifleman Mande Thapa.
The four soldiers showed exceptional courage while confronting insurgents near Zunheboto in the Sapotabhi area of Nagaland.
Their actions in the face of grave danger reflected the Assam Rifles’ traditions of duty, honour and service before self, the defence spokesman said.
