A patient seeking help for a complicated leg condition received an assurance of specialist support through AIIMS, New Delhi, as Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said telemedicine could help facilitate advanced treatment within Tripura.

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Wednesday highlighted telemedicine as a route to advanced medical care within the state. He said patients can receive specialist consultation from AIIMS, New Delhi, without necessarily having to travel outside Tripura for treatment.
Dr Saha made the statement while addressing the 72nd episode of ‘Mukhyamantri Samipeshu’ at his official residence. Several people approached the programme seeking assistance for family members suffering from serious and complicated illnesses.
AIIMS consultation for complicated leg condition
Ujjala Biswas (Sarkar) from Shibnagar under Bishalgarh subdivision sought the Chief Minister’s help for her daughter. She said her daughter was suffering from a complicated leg condition.
Dr Saha told her that advanced treatment could be facilitated in Tripura through telemedicine consultation with AIIMS, New Delhi. He also assured her of the necessary assistance.
The case highlighted the role of remote specialist consultation in supporting patients who require advanced medical attention.
Multiple families seek medical assistance
Other patients and their families also approached the Chief Minister during the programme.
Shankar Saha from Shibnagar in Agartala sought assistance for his daughter’s treatment. Narayan Banik from Badarghat requested help for his wife’s kidney-related treatment.
Subal Saha from Town Bardowali also sought medical assistance for his wife, who is suffering from a serious illness.
Dr Saha heard their grievances and directed the concerned officials to arrange appropriate treatment. He also asked them to extend the required assistance.
Medical support sought for serious illnesses
Chandrakumar Das from Ramnagar, Subal Mitra from Badharghat, Shanta Das from Banshbangan, Abdul Barek Chowdhury from Nandanagar and Bakul Rani Das from Amtali were among others who sought medical support.
Their requests concerned children, spouses and other family members suffering from serious illnesses. Some cases involved kidney-related ailments.
The Chief Minister directed officials to examine the cases and take the required steps for treatment and assistance.
Government highlights healthcare support
Dr Saha said Tripura’s healthcare infrastructure and medical services had undergone significant improvement. According to him, the progress has reduced the number of patients being referred outside the state for treatment.
He also pointed to healthcare assistance available through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
The Chief Minister said the state government was making every possible effort to support people in need.
The programme also included financial assistance for two disaster-affected families. Dr Saha handed over assistance from the State Disaster Response Fund to the wives of Subhash Malakar of South Narayanpur and Sanjit Das of Badharghat. Both men died in natural disasters.
Chief Minister’s Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health Department Director Dr Debashree Debbarma, GB Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Bidhan Goswami, IGM Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Nirmal Sarkar, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Shiromoni Debbarma and other senior officials attended the programme.
