The sports fraternity of Tripura today extended support to judoka Asmita Dey before her Asian Games appearance and felicitated chess player Aradhya Das after her unbeaten national championship triumph in Puducherry recently.

Asmita set for Asian Games judo competition
Asmita Dey is scheduled to compete in the 48-kg judo category at the Asian Games on September 30.
Tripura Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Tripura Olympic Association president Padma Shri Dr Dipa Karmakar, Advisory Board chairman Ratan Saha and members of the executive committee wished Asmita success ahead of the competition.
The Indian judo team is currently training in Tsukuba, around 400 kilometres from Nagoya, where the Asian Games are being held.
Asmita’s competitive schedule will continue beyond the Asian Games. After the continental event concludes, the Indian judo team will travel from Japan to Azerbaijan for the World Championships.
The advance wishes from Tripura’s sports fraternity come as Asmita prepares for the next stage of her international sporting journey.
Tripura official joins Japan infrastructure visit
The Asian Games in Japan have also provided an opportunity for sports officials from the Northeast to observe sporting infrastructure and event arrangements.
A delegation comprising Meghalaya Sports Minister Wailadmiko Shyla, John F. Kharsyiang, Secretary General of the North East Sports Association and Working President of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, along with engineers and experts, visited sporting infrastructure in Japan.
The delegation undertook the visit ahead of the forthcoming National Games in Meghalaya and other northeastern states.
Tripura Olympic Association secretary Sujit Roy was also part of the delegation. He observed the infrastructure being used for the ongoing Asian Games and gained experience from the arrangements.
The visit linked the ongoing Asian Games with preparations for future sporting events in the Northeast. The delegation’s exposure included sports infrastructure and arrangements associated with the continental event.
Aradhya wins national Under-13 chess title
In another significant development for Tripura sport, chess player Aradhya Das paid a courtesy visit to Sports Minister Tinku Roy at the Civil Secretariat today.
Aradhya recently won the Under-13 National Chess Championship in Puducherry. She remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and secured the national title.
A Class VII student of Sri Krishna Mission School, Aradhya trains at Matrix Chess Academy. She visited the Civil Secretariat with her father, Anuj Das, and carried the trophy she had won at the national championship.
During the meeting, Aradhya presented the trophy to Roy.
The Sports Minister felicitated her for the achievement and praised her success as an inspiring chapter for Tripura’s sporting community.
Minister praises Aradhya’s dedication
Roy said Aradhya’s dedication, talent and achievement could inspire young chess players across Tripura to dream big and work towards their goals.
He wished her continued success and expressed hope that her talent would bring greater recognition to Tripura on the national and international chess stage.
Aradhya also expressed happiness over the interaction with the minister. She said she would continue working towards achieving greater success in the future.
