The Tripura government has expanded civic response capability in Agartala with 10 advanced Rapid Response Team vehicles while launching two drinking water infrastructure projects at Collegetila at a combined cost of Rs 20.95 crore on October 8.
Key Takeaways:
**CM Dr. Manik Saha flagged off 10 advanced vehicles for Agartala’s Rapid Response Team.
**Rs 2.78 crore has been spent on the response vehicles and truck-mounted water tankers.
**The government also launched two Collegetila water projects costing Rs 18.17 crore to strengthen drinking water infrastructure.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on October 8 flagged off 10 vehicles equipped with advanced facilities for the Chief Minister’s Rapid Response Team in Agartala, strengthening the city’s field-level civic response mechanism.
The initiative came alongside the launch of major drinking water infrastructure projects at Collegetila under Ward No. 24 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation.
The Chief Minister virtually laid the foundation stones for a 6.81 million-litre-capacity surface water treatment plant and a 680-kilolitre-capacity overhead tank from Rabindra Bhavan.
He also launched a WhatsApp-based complaint reporting and calling system during the programme.
Rs 2.78 Crore for Rapid Response Vehicles
The state government has spent Rs 2 crore 78 lakh 49 thousand on the Rapid Response Team vehicles and truck-mounted water tankers, Dr. Saha said.
The 10 vehicles will strengthen the team’s ability to respond to civic problems across the Agartala Municipal Corporation area.
The government is combining these field resources with technology-based complaint reporting to improve the speed of civic services.
Dr. Saha said the government has introduced a calling facility and an AI-based response team with the objective of making the Municipal Corporation area a ‘zero complaint’ zone.
He said this is the first time such an advanced service has been introduced in the state.
WhatsApp System to Support Civic Response
The Chief Minister also launched a WhatsApp-based complaint reporting and calling facility.
The new system will provide residents with another channel to report civic problems. The Rapid Response Team will then have dedicated vehicles and other resources to address such issues on the ground.
Dr. Saha said the initiative would help strengthen citizen-focused service delivery across the Municipal Corporation’s four zones.

He also referred to the ‘Amar Sarkar’ portal, through which people across Tripura have benefited from government services.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that residents of the four Municipal Corporation zones would similarly benefit from the AI-based response mechanism.
Rs 18.17 Crore Drinking Water Projects
Alongside the civic response initiative, the government has launched two major drinking water projects at Collegetila.
The surface water treatment plant will have a capacity of 6.81 million litres, while the overhead tank will have a capacity of 680 kilolitres.
The two projects will cost Rs 18 crore 17 lakh.
Dr. Saha said access to safe drinking water remains a basic requirement for creating a citizen-friendly environment.
He also stressed the importance of water conservation for future generations.
The Chief Minister said the state government has taken steps to provide safe drinking water in every ward under the Agartala Municipal Corporation.
Focus on Modern Civic Infrastructure
Dr. Saha said the government is using advanced technology for infrastructure development and renovation works.
He said the administration is taking people’s problems seriously and working to improve civic facilities.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged that residents in some areas are currently facing temporary difficulties because of ongoing road and water pipeline works.
He said these problems would be resolved soon and the development projects would be completed at the earliest.
The government aims to transform Agartala into a cleaner, modern and more citizen-friendly city. The Rapid Response Team, new complaint mechanism and drinking water projects form part of this broader civic improvement effort.
Water and Emergency Response Drive
The latest initiatives bring together two key aspects of urban service delivery: basic water infrastructure and faster civic response.
The Rapid Response Team will receive 10 new vehicles, while truck-mounted water tankers will add to its field resources. At the same time, the Collegetila projects will strengthen the city’s drinking water infrastructure.
The combined investment in the Rapid Response Team resources and the two water projects stands at Rs 20 crore 95 lakh 49 thousand.
Mayor and MLA of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumdar, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, Central Zone Chairman Ratna Dutta, Urban Development Department Secretary Dr. Milind Ramteke and Tripura Jal Board Chief Executive Officer Mihir Kanti Gope attended the programme.
