The Maharashtra government has decided to launch an accident insurance scheme for farmers in the name of late BJP leader Gopinath Munde. The scheme is likely to benefit 1.37 crore farmers .
As per the new scheme to be implemented from year 2015-16, each farmer will get two lakh rupees annual insurance cover. The term of current scheme ‘Farmer Accident Insurance Scheme’ ends on November 30, 2015 and hence the new scheme has been started.
